ThisisafilmIpickedupinthelibrary.Ihadn'theardaboutitatall,soIwaswonderingwhetheritwasintendedforTVorforthebigscreen.So,anyway,whatgotmewatchingthisflickismainlythecast:MarioAdorf,GüntherLamprechtandBrunoGanzare,inmyview,someofthefinestactorsGermanyhas(andGermanydoesn'thavealotofthem).Theplotissomethingwhichrangabelltome,Iamquitesurethatthemainideaofthisfilmbordersonplagiarism:aformerKZ-inmateisconvincedofhavingdiscoveredoneofhistorturersinachurchposingasamanofGod(Lamprecht).ItremindedmeofDürrenmatt.Althoughtheplotisdefinitelynotsomethingunheardoforneverdonebefore,Ithoughtthattheactingwasgood.Theflashbackstotheyouthofthethreeprotagonistswassomewhattoocorny,buttheconfrontationsceneinthechurchwaswelldoneandnotalittlemelodramatic.Thisscenewasworthwatching,becauseAdorf,LamprechtandGanzdisplaythiskindofdowntoearthactingthatfarfromtheoverlydramaticwayofactinginHollywoodwhenitcomestotheHolocaust.So,althoughthisisn'tthebestmovieI'veeverseenontheShoah,it'sdefinitelynottheworst,andthat'swhyIgiveit6points.
